The Ministry of Employment and Labor held an award ceremony at COEX on September 16 (Friday) for the
best cases of using the National Tomorrow Learning Card, designed to support vocational education and
training for all Koreans.
At this ceremony, a total of 36 best practices were selected, and six of them were granted the Minister’s
award (One grand prize, two top excellence awards and three excellence awards).
Among the six winners, a particular attention went to the grand prize winner who participated in the
"K-Digital Training" through the card program. His case represents a successful adaptation to the changed
labor market environment, driven by the fourth industrial revolution and digital transformation.
The winner of grand prize Kim applied for the award with his essay titled "You don't know what you like
unless you try it." Although he studied mechanical engineering back in college, and not Artificial
Intelligence (AI), he was interested in developing computer programs that can help others, so he decided to
participate in a "K-digital training" course. Having actively sought employment opportunities through the
"Corporate Networking Day" held by a training institution, he successfully landed a job as an AI developer.
Kwon Tae-sung, Director-general of the Vocational Competency Policy Bureau, said, "Success cases of the
National Tomorrow Learning Card will serve as an excellent compass that guides others toward a hopeful
tomorrow." He added, “Further efforts will be made to improve the card system so that more people can
have various training courses of various sectors in the era of lifelong vocational training.”
