What perception does the public have about "fair hiring"? The Ministry of Employment and Labor (Minister:
Lee, Jung Sik) will conduct an online public survey from September 15 (Thursday) to October 5
(Wednesday) to hear various voices of the people about fair hiring.

Fairness is one of the government's four principles in undertaking state affairs―national interests,
pragmatism, fairness, and common sense. In particular, fairness in the hiring process, which is the first door
for young people to enter society, is a key value that must be upheld. In order to ensure fair opportunities
in hiring, the Ministry of Employment and Labor will revise the current Fair Hiring Procedure Act, which
mainly focuses on the fair process of hiring, with a view to further strengthening fairness and transparency
in hiring. To this end, the ministry will conduct a national survey to listen to various opinions.

The survey includes questions about one’s experience of fair or unfair hiring process, what one desires a
new fair hiring act to newly include, and what role the government should play in spreading fair hiring
practices. The public will also be asked to make provisions on their own, which they would like to see in the
act. These valuable opinions will be used to craft fair hiring policies going forward.

Minister Lee highlighted, “Given various perspectives from young people and businesses on fair hiring and
changing hiring practices, it is crucial to listen to various voices onsite." He added, "The government will
take all necessary measures to establish a fair hiring order by taking into account the public’s opinions."
