The Ministry of Employment and Labor (Minister: Lee Jung-Sik) held a hackathon on digital and new
technologies, attended by 10 K-digital training teams. These teams are the finalists who have passed the
two preliminary rounds.

706 young people of 150 teams from K-Digital Training institutions including KT, NAVER and Modulab
joined the competition. The number of participants is three times larger than those of the first hackathon
held last year.

The increased interest can be attributed to the proven quality of the training program. Statistics show that
trainees of the program ranked much higher than other vocational programs in terms of landing jobs in
companies with more than 500 (22.2%) and receiving higher monthly payment (by 350,000 won).

In particular, 31 out of 54 people who entered the final turned out to be non-IT majors, demonstrating
once again that non-IT majors can also become key talents in the digital field through K-Digital Training.

 <K-Digital Training>
K-Digital Training, which provides trainees with full training costs and subsidies, is the government's
flagship vocational training program to foster pratical talents in new industries and technologies.

The program has been enjoying huge popularity among young people thanks to the participation of
innovative private training institutions, much liked by young people such as Modulab, and leading digital
companies such as Samsung and NAVER as training institutions.

Trainees are provided with a tailored training program where they team up with other trainees and solve
practical problems presented by companies. It is also an intensive talent training course with an average
training period of about six months (900 hours).

Since the launch of the first training course in November 2020, as many as 20,000 young people have
participated in the training program.

According to the Korea Research Institute of Vocational Education and Training, 22.2% of K-Digital Training
participants were able to land jobs in mid- and large-sized companies with 500 or more employees, three
times higher than 7.7% of trainees from other vocational training programs.

In addition, their average monthly payment turned out to be more than 350,000 won higher than graduates
of other vocational training programs. These data indicate that K-Digital Training is indeed playing a role
that brides young people with new industries and technologies through its practical course of talent
development.

<The 2nd Hackathon Final and Award>
The final of the 2nd hackathon was held on June 22 to provide K-Digital Training participants with an
opportunity to demonstrate their skills developed through the program and promote the achievement and
excellence of the training course.

Under the theme of “Development of Digital Services for Better Future”, the hackathon brought about 706
young people from 150 teams.

The 10 teams were selected through the two preliminary rounds, and the final round took place in Seoul on
June 22 to determine the ranking and grant the ministerial award and prize to the winner.
